Delighted Amateurs Take Home Cup

On a cold rainy night, thousands of fans turned up for the prospect of an exciting NFA League Cup Final. Armchair Amateurs opposition were DirtyGirls Utd. The two side's previous head to heads gave nothing away - 31 games played with The Amateurs winning 12 of those and Utd taking 9 wins. It was certainly going to be a close one.

DirtyGirls' veteran 'keeper Timo Hilderbrand was called into action on several occasions in the opening 30 minutes or so, but was equal to Armchair Amateurs' attacking line. It was evident during this period that Fosatti and Miranda were up for this game and were causing chaos in the centre of the park.

With AAFC unable to score early on though, DirtyGirls Utd began to mount their own attacks. Biagianti sent a long range effort just wide on the half-hour mark, before Wellington missed a sitter inside the six yard box.

There were very few clear cut chances beyond that point, which resulted in extra time. Michael Tollley picked up a knock in the early stages of ET, with The Amateurs already using up all their subs. However, with the lack of conviction and attacking play from both sides, The Amateurs managed to hang on with 10 men.

Penalties!! DirtyGirls Utd hadn't had a great track record from recent shootouts. That poor form continued as three of their four penalties failed to hit the back of the net. Antonio De Le Roca proved to be somewhat of a star man in the shootout. The keeper kept the goals at bay - a task that was often made to look easy by his predecessor Felipe.

The significance of this cup win is that it's the first senior honur for the side. Hopefully, it will be the start of many.

A Lick of Paint

Anyone who has used to visit this site often will have realised that is hasn't been updated in an age. I feel I should be doing a bit more to keep the world updated on the exploits of Armchair Amateurs and hope to regularly update the site.

As a result, I've given the site a slightly different look. It's simple and I hope you all like it. I won't be writing in the style I used to, either. Before, it was presented like an official club website but from now on, I shall update it in a more informal way and add my opinions on all things FML.

Hopefully you will all visit often to see what's going on.
