Armchair Amateurs, founded in 2008, are an ambitious team managed by me, Tom Hales. The Amateurs have a proud youth policy and find it a very rewarding way of running the club by bringing in young talent to compete at the highest level.

The club, despite it's young years, is one with tradition and passion and one where a player must work not as an individual, but as a collective, giving everything to the greater cause. It is in this philosophy that the players are signed. Any player that is coveted by The Amateurs hierarchy should feel pride towards pulling on the red and blue stripes of the club.

Me, the Manager

I was introduced as the manager of The Amateurs in front of a packed out press conference and have never shyed away from the limelight. I also never shy away from a challenge and that was the underlying factor in my decision to take over as the first manager of the club. I feel that I have a pretty impressive CV, having managed giants like Liverpool and Inter to prolonged success and also boosted the reputation and status of smaller clubs such as Oxford United, Stuttgarter Kickers and possibly the most obscure of all, Hong Kong F.C.

The Future

I hope to be seen as an astute and clever manager and the only way of doing that is by results on the pitch. Over the next few seasons I will look to build my reputation and cement a good place in the world rankings. I’m just going to have to beat alot of teams to get there.
